Fifth Russian Economic Congress: meeting of creative industries researchers
From September 11 to 15, 2023,researchers of the Laboratory for Management in Culture and Tourism participated in the V Russian Economic Congress (REC-2023) in Yekaterinburg.
The congress is a significant scientific event that annually gathers leading researchers and experts. The multidisciplinary focus of REC is highly sought after by scholars from various fields, including creative industries. This year, the thematic conference dedicated to creative industries attracted specialists studying strategic development in this sector, the enhancement of competencies for creative professionals, cluster practices and more. Our colleagues, Prof. Valery Gordin, head of the Laboratory, and Anton Kospolov, research intern and a second-year student of the Master’s programme in «Urban Development and Governance» presented the results of a comprehensive study on the support mechanisms for film producers in the Russian regions. In addition to financial support formats, the research identified 26 types of non-financial assistance for film producers operating in the region. These include administrative, informational, organizational, resource-based, consulting and media support. Based on regional characteristics in applying various rebate formats and non-financial support for film production, organizational, legal and operational models were developed to assist incoming film crews.
Anastasia Polomarchuk, analyst of the Laboratory, presented six models of interaction among residents of creative clusters. The identification of these models is the result of a two-year study focused on understanding the behavior patterns of residents within creative clusters, involving students from the HSE University in St. Petersburg as well as research interns from the Laboratory: Daria Khomyakova, Elizaveta Markina and Valeria Zalozhnykh.
