Implementing Digital Technologies: analysis of foreign experience in (Based on the Annual MuseWeb Conference)

Ekaterina Marmilova, PostDocof the Laboratory for Management in Culture and Tourism, participated in the VII Kaliningrad School of Humanitarian Informatics, held from November 23 to 25, 2023, at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.

One of the main topics of the School was «The Application of IT Technologies in Medicine, Management, Marketing and Education».

Ekaterina discussed how trends in cultural heritage preservation can be identified using a text lemmatizer and N-gram analysis. This IT tool replaces the Python programming language, making it user-friendly and suitable for humanities scholars for conducting research. Using this tool, the author highlighted the most frequently used terms from materials presented at the MuseWeb conference between 2012 and 2022, such as online content development (ranging from educational courses to exhibitions), discussions on data openness, the use of artificial intelligence capabilities, etc. Participants were particularly interested to learn that this topic was explored by both practicing professionals in museums (30%) and representatives from academic circles (23%), and that the text lemmatizer can provide a comprehensive overview of ideas and products related to the implementation of digital technologies in the field of cultural heritage.
